I’ve been playing The Sims since I was young. In college I remember collecting used copies of The Sims and The Sims 2 expansion packs and spending hours upon hours building houses and directing my sims around. These days I’m all about The Sims 4, and now that I have finally upgraded to a desktop that can run it at its highest graphic settings (whoa!), I’m back at it. This page will be used to collect anything related to my game play.

    • Anything that is formatted like this is a pack I don’t have (yet)

At this moment, I am not using any mods or CC in my game. I’ve run into a bunch of weird bugs, so I’m playing vanilla for a while to see if that fixes it (also running the EA “repair” function every time I get a new expansion). I’m not a fan of custom build/buy objects, but I do like mods. Here are some mods I’ve used recently:

  • The MC Command Center and MC Woo Hoo
    • This is, essentially, a UI mod that allows many cheats to be accessed via menu. It makes life easier, and can change some gameplay. I *really* like this mod, but I haven’t been missing it since I went mod-free as much as I might have expected.
  • Uplifting Elevators
    • These elevators are essential if you have a larger build. EA has not, as of this writing, built us working elevators, despite having had them in The Sims 3. This mod is the best we can do on our own. It works like an eye-candy elevator door that teleports your sim to another space. The doors are not animated and your sim doesn’t act like they use it. It’s more like they are walking toward it and are suddenly on another floor. I go back and forth on using this, though, because sims will pretty much never use stairs if they can use the elevator, and that’s a bummer when you’ve also made great stairs.
  • Wicked Whims
    • I used to use Wicked Whims, but it wasn’t for me. I found that MCCC had a lot of the same functionality without the animation aspect.

Game-Play Story Lines and Challenges

The Tongalin Family

Viktor Tongalin

Viktor was born into a wealthy business family. Despite having seemingly everything (a beautiful new wife, more money than God, and even a literal family castle gifted to him by his father), Viktor was always an unhappy, even macabre, man.

Not long after the birth of his second child, something snapped in Viktor. His behavior became more and more erratic, and his wife, Ari, was starting to fear him. It was during this descent that we can see exactly when everything shifted: As Ari Tongalin walked into the castle’s chapel, her eyes fell upon something she literally could not understand; her husband and her brother in the throws of passion.

In that moment, Ari, overcome with grief, suffered a heart attack and died instantly.

Viktor left his career shortly after his wife’s death and got into organized crime. Before long, the Tongalin Crime Family was known across the country. Even though his gangs brought him millions upon millions of simoleons, he wasn’t satisfied yet. Viktor needed more evil.

He sought out and became a vampire. Starting from scratch in a newly undead body, Viktor rebuilt his organized crime empire in the vampire realm. As his power grew, Viktor wreaked havok on Forgotten Hallow, eventually killing the town’s founder, Vladislaus Straud, and taking over his role as Master Vampire.

Viktor continues to live on, seemingly forever, working to spread evil far and wide.

Emmit Tongalin

Emmit and his siblings, grandchildren to Viktor, struggled to adapt to the infamy surrounding their surname. Their mother, Maura Hampton, had fled with them not long after Viktor’s vampiric tendencies began to take over. At least one sibling changed their name in an attempt to distance themselves. Emmit, though, took a different path. It became his life mission to bring honor back to his family name.

To work against his grandfather’s evil deeds, Emmit spent his life in public service, eventually ascending to National Leader. His wealth continues to support culture and public good around the country. In Newcrest you’ll find the Tongalin Art Museum–a beautiful and large facility which holds some of our most important treasures (including all known Vitorio paintings!).

Emmit’s many (many!) children continue, in their own unique ways, to change popular associations with the Tongalin name.

Jade Tongalin, for instance, moved to San Myshuno to become a very well-known newspaper critic. Jade lives a rather bohemian lifestyle, by which I mean she has a son, but has never publicly revealed who the father is. As far as anyone knows, she lives with her daughter and a live-in maid in a massive 3-floor apartment in the financial district.

Emmit and Jade both have stars on the Starlight Boulevard in the Del Sol Valley.

The Eastman Family

George Eastman

After making it big in the Science business, George Eastman retired to Brindleton Bay where he built a truly palatial mansion (which looks strangely similar to this one in Rochester, NY). He, his wife Winona, and his Mother (Maria) moved into the mansion and raised the children (Archie and Victoria) there.

George Eastman made all the simoleons a sim can make. Specifically, 9,999,999 simoleons. His kids grew up wanting for nothing, and while they were both wonderful people, they almost completely lived off their father’s money alone, famous for having a famous dad. Toward the end of Archie’s life, he noticed the money flowing out faster than he’d expected. Wanting to ensure a future for his children and their children, Archie got into the real estate business and built a set of luxury condos downtown. He even converted some of the Eastman Mansion itself into apartments.

How long will the money last?

Scarlet Eastman

Scarlet Eastman, Victoria’s daughter (father unknown), took over the family real estate business once her Uncle Archie died. Archie’s husband, Darren, was overwhelmed with grief at the loss of his spouse and slipped away into himself. He’d lock himself in his room for days, coming out for food and to say horrible things to anyone in his path.

In a strange turn, Scarlet became a fairy. She uses her abilities to bring her closer to nature, and to better manage her rental units.

Scarlet is very at home on the beautiful grounds of the Eastman Mansion, shrinking down and dancing among the flowers.

Aldo Eastman

George Eastman was a global superstar, and he built a crazy house. His kids were both famous in their own right, but the popularity seemed to end with them. Scarlet and Darren loathe the spotlight, but also find themselves living in, essentially, a celebrity’s house. People come by to take photos at all hours only to boo when an unknown Eastman walks out.

Aldo, son to Archie and Darren, aims to turn this around. He’s always been passionate about performing, and intends to become a famous actor. Hopefully then he can bring the fame and recognition to his family home that he believes it deserves.
